Cookie policy
This page explains what cookies are, which ones this website uses and how you can control them. The site uses as few as possible, and none for tracking or advertising.
1. What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files that a website saves on your phone, tablet or computer when you visit. They let a site remember your device, keep it secure and work properly. Similar technologies, such as your browser's local storage, work in much the same way.
Cookies come in a few kinds:
- Session cookies are deleted when you close your browser.
- Persistent cookies stay until they expire or you delete them.
- First-party cookies are set by the website you're visiting. This site doesn't set any of its own.
- Third-party cookies are set by another company whose service appears on the page, such as an embedded map.
2. Cookies this website uses
| Provider | What it does | Type |
|---|---|---|
| Cloudflare (hosting and spam check) | Keeps the site secure and checks the contact form is being filled in by a person, not a bot. Cloudflare may set a short-lived security cookie to do this. | Strictly necessary |
| Google Maps (the map in our contact section) | Shows where we are. When the map loads, Google may set its own cookies and receives your IP address. | Third party |
| Google Fonts | Loads the typeface used for headings. No cookies are set, but your browser connects to Google to fetch it. | No cookies |
3. What we don't use
We don't use analytics, advertising, social-media or marketing cookies, and we don't track you across other websites.
The site has no online booking and no account log-in, so there are no booking or log-in cookies either.
If this ever changes, we'll update this page and ask for your consent before any non-essential cookies are used.
4. Strictly necessary cookies
These are needed for the site to work securely. Under the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR), they can be used without asking for consent first.
5. Google's cookies
Google sets these, not us, and they are covered by Google's own policies. See how Google uses cookies.
6. Managing or blocking cookies
You can see, block or delete cookies in your browser settings:
- Chrome: Settings → Privacy and security → Third-party cookies (or Cookies and other site data)
- Safari (iPhone and iPad): Settings → Apps → Safari → Advanced → Website Data
- Safari (Mac): Safari → Settings → Privacy → Manage Website Data
- Firefox: Settings → Privacy & Security → Cookies and Site Data
- Edge: Settings → Cookies and site permissions → Manage and delete cookies and site data
The website still works with cookies blocked. The map may not show, and the spam check on the contact form may ask you to confirm you're not a robot.
For more general guidance, see the ICO's advice on cookies.
7. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The latest version, with its date, will always be on this page.
